Pakistan captain Nida Dar has reflected on the poor performance in the first ODI where West Indies women won by a massive margin of 113 runs at the National Bank Stadium (NBS) in Karachi.
Captain Hayley Matthews led from the front and scored 140 runs in 150 balls, which included 15 fours and a six, after she won the toss and opted to bat first.
Nida opined Pakistan conceded too many runs in the last ten overs. "Our bowling and fielding was not up to the mark.
"If we had restricted West Indies to 220, the result would have been different," she added.
Nida maintained that Pakistan are fully capable of comeback. " We have to plan better and all players have to take their own responsibility.
"Pakistan team is fully capable of comeback and I hope that the team will play well in the next matches," she added.
It must be noted West Indies finished on 269-8 in 50 overs.
For Pakistan, Sadia Iqbal and Tuba Hassan claimed two wickets each.
In reply, the home side were bundled out for 156 runs in 35.5 overs. Pakistan kept on losing wickets at regular intervals and never threatened to chase down the 270-run target.
Tuba was the highest scorer for Pakistan with 25 runs.
After impressing with the bat, Matthews also dominated in the bowling department with three wickets for 17 runs in six overs.
Afy Fletcher and Zaida James also clinched two wickets each.
The three ODIs will be followed by five T20Is from April 26 to May 3.
The series is being broadcast live on Pakistan’s first sports channel Geo Super.
